Historic Protestant & Evangelical ChristianitY

DALLAS

We labor to see the DFW area transformed by the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.

PRESBYTERIAN

The Greek word presbuteros means elder.  Our Church is elder-led. No single man has all authority in Christ’s Church. At DPC, the elders shepherd  the congregation as undershepherds of Christ. Higher courts of a plurality of equal elders give our church stability, godly oversight, and accountability.

CHURCH

We are a church of the Lord Jesus Christ. The church is the body of those Christ calls out of the world.  The Lord Jesus said He will build His Church and the gates of Hell will not prevail. It is our prayer that Christ will use us to spread His good news and that many in the DFW area will be called out of the world and into the Kingdom of Heaven.

What Does Our Name Mean?

We are Reformed & Confessional

REFORMED

We are committed to the five solas of the  Protestant Reformation.

1) Sola Scriptura: the Scripture is the only infallible standard for faith and life

2) Sola Gratia: We are saved by grace alone

3) Sola Fide: we are saved through faith alone

4) Solus Christus: we are saved  in Christ alone

5) Soli Deo Gloria: we are saved to the glory of God alone

We are evangelical and preach the  glorious gospel of Christ that proclaims the free gift of salvation to all who rest on and receive Christ for everlasting life. From beginning to end, salvation is a free gift by the grace of God.

CONFESSIONAL

We are a Confessional Church. This means that we  subscribe to the Westminster Confession of Faith. Our church is in the stream of historic Scottish Presbyterianism. The Westminster Confession of Faith was ratified in 1646 as a common confession of the Protestant faith in the three kingdoms of England, Scotland, and Ireland.  Confessional Presbyterians continue to confess it’s doctrines as we believe it to be an excellent summary of the teaching of Holy Scripture.

These Confessional Standards are subordinate to the Bible itself, and we receive them as a summary of what the Word teaches. All Elders at DPC have signed the Formula affirming that the Confession of Faith is our own belief, therefore we may not teach contrary to it.

This protects our congregation and gives prospective members transparency into what the Church believes the Scripture to teach. At the same time, these standards are subordinate to the Scripture and may be revised if they are proven to be in error.

EvangelisTIC

We are deeply committed to the Great Commission of our Lord. We conduct direct evangelism events led by our elders each month. The gospel is preached by our pastor in the open air in McKinney Square, with the congregation interacting with and praying with those who come by. Even our children are involved in the passing out of gospel tracts!

We also go door to door and talk to our neighbors about the gospel. Our people love to share the good news of Christ with their neighbors and invite others to meet Jesus in the worship services as the Samaritan woman did (John 4).

On his personal blog, one of our former pastors, who often preached in the open air in nearby McKinney and elsewhere, has written on the need to go into the open to preach Christ Crucified. That article can be found here.

The video clip shows what you might expect at one of our open air preaching events at the McKinney Square.

Dallas Presbyterian Church Public Evangelism at McKinney Square

Our History & Affiliation

Dallas Presbyterian Church is a congregation of the Free Church of Scotland (Continuing) in the U.S. Presbytery. In 1843 the Free Church of Scotland was born of the Great Disruption, standing for the truths of Scripture and the Crown Rights of King Jesus over His Church. The Free Church of Scotland (Continuing) raised its first fully-sanctioned congregation in the United States in 2007. We have sister a denomination in Australia (the PCEA).

Our congregation's story begins in 2012 when a group of families with a deep love of Christ and convinced of the distinctives of historic Presbyterianism came together seeking to form a new church under the authority of a Presbytery. For twelve years, it was a plant and congregation of the RPCNA. Our congregation was organized as a mission church in 2014. With the election, ordination and installation of our own elders, we became a particular congregation of the RPCNA on March 6th, 2015.

On March 17, 2024, the congregation voted to change denominational affiliation to the Free Church of Scotland (Continuing) as we prepare to seek our next Minister, desiring to continue the historic worship practices and emphasis on experiential preaching established by our previous two ministers.

The congregation’s petition to the General Assembly of the Free Church of Scotland (Continuing) was heard and the crave (request of the petition) granted on May 21, 2024, making us a congregation of the FCC.

We prayerfully await the Lord’s timing to establish an indigenous denomination in the Free Church tradition here in North America, with several Presbyteries and a General Assembly of its own.
